A right Royal Wedding

Tasked with capturing the atmosphere and celebration in Grove Street to commemorate the Royal Wedding only to find myself leaning towards the Martin Parr school of photography.

Food, glorious food!

Another food shoot.  It's surprising how much food photography I'm doing at the moment and the trick is balancing portable studio flash with the available light in the restaurant.  These days I have to work in the restaurant’s dining room utilising the  table top as my make shift studio.  Issues of colour balance, depth of field and ambient/ flash problems are all to be overcome.  And why oh why do I always get to do this type of photography just before lunch!

The hills are alive with the sounds of photography...

Out yesterday with Mark Thompson across Ecton Hill in Staffordshire with a view to capturing some spectacular landscapes down the Manifold Valley.  However the haze meant this was a none starter as soon as we got to the top of the hill but behold, we found three dry stone wallers who were more than happy to let us photograph them.  It's amazing how you can find images all around.  Interesting that they all thought Mark was the professional photographer because he had a big sod off camera!

Enjoy your Easter!
Thursday night saw Afzal Ansary (pictured, FRPS FBIPP FBPA DGPh HonFMPA) from the Royal Photographic Society giving the Lindow Photographic Group an excellent, informative and humourous talk to the group.  Images of particular note which were shown on the night were some splendid wildlife images and some superb ballet images from Simon Croft (www.simoncroftsphoto.com)
In the words of Afzal Ansary:-

''The best images speak to your heart. They make you smile, laugh, dream, or even cry.
They can also inspire and evoke deep emotion''.

Robert Mapplethorpe

Tonight we looked at the work of Robert Mapplethorpe.  Talk about censoring a photographer’s work!  You don't get this in your camera clubs.

Dipping a toe into the scary world of blogging...

Apparently what is needed is a blog.

And if the world needs a Weston Digital Imaging blog, then a Weston Digital Imaging Blog it shall get...

Expect regular, if badly spelled updates of what we're up to. I'll spare you the detailed accounts of model building, the sad and sorry tale of the MX V and the supermarket delivery lorry (I'll name no names, but they haven't "saved us money anyday") and concentrate instead on the great pics that Richard (and, with their kind permission, our photo group members) are taking.

Just for starters, here's Bruce capturing the last of the sunset on Thursday evening course, while some of the group did some outdoor lifestyle shots of a local actor.

Here's what the rest of the group was up to, photo courtesy of Tony Ioannides.
